Architect Walter Jonas’s Intrapolis, 1962
Walter Cronkite tours the home office of 2001 (also the living room and kitchen). Filmed in 1967.
I like this prediction from the kitchen segment:
When I’ve finished eating, there will be no dishes to wash. The used plates will be melted down again, the leftovers destroyed in the process and the melted plastic will be ready to be molded into clean plates when I need them next.
2001: A Space Odyssey, 1968
General Motors’ “Futurama” at the World’s Fair, 1964
Ivan Sutherland of MIT demoing Sketchpad, 1963
Doug Engelbart of Stanford and “the mother of all demos” introducing the mouse, video conferencing, teleconferencing, hypertext, word processing, and about 6 different other things, 1968
(To be fair, this video doesn’t quite fit the theme — Engelbart was demoing ‘real working stuff’ whereas most of these videos are purely conceptual)
British Telecom, 1969
